The National Roman Museum, founded in 1889, holds most of the antiquities found in Rome since 1870, as well as pre-existing collections.
The largest part of the collection is main seat in the Palazzo Massimo alle Terme (1883-1887), which used to be a Jesuit College until 1960. In 1981 the palace was restored to house the a big proportion of the museum’s collections.
