The Quirinal hill is the highest and largest of the Rome’s seven hills. The hill was the traditional home of the Sabines and took its name from the cult of one of their gods, Quirinus. Abandoned in the Middles Ages, the area reflourished in the 16th century. Noble families, such as Colonna and Aldobrandini, decided to built their palaces on the hill.
