The Esquiline, one of the seven hills of Rome, owns its
name from the word “Esquilae”, which means out
of the city, because it was a suburb in origin. Nowadays in
this area there is a square, Piazza dell’Esquilino,
from which is possible to observe the beauty and majesty of
the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore
